DVD authoring has evolved from being a job for professionals to a task approachable by the average user and it turns out it can be a pleasant, hassle-free activity, too, with software such as WinX DVD Author at hand. BurnAware Free 5.2 Final. We’re pretty sure that choosing one CD/DVD software application isn’t quite an easy job anymore, not because there’s no such tool on the market, but because there are so many that it’s impossible to pick the one that fits you best.

BurnAware is one of the best apps in the pack and you will get that just by looking at the main window.

The application comes with support for data discs, be them CDs, DVDs, bridge discs, boot discs or blu-ray, multimedia ones, such as audio, MP3 or DVD-video and images, letting you either make an ISO or burn one.

The installation procedure isn’t difficult at all, but it’s better to pay attention to the included steps because the setup kit also includes some unnecessary tools that BurnAware doesn’t need to work properly.

But the application remains one of the fastest and easiest to use we’ve ever seen. Just choose the disc you wish to use from the main window, add the files you wish to burn and that’s basically it.

The only problem we’ve found during our test concerns the way you have to add files on a new compilation. It doesn’t support drag and drop, which means you have to use the “add files” button every time you wish to add content on your new disc.

Other than that, it has all the features you’d expect from a powerful CD/DVD burner. It lets you choose the burning speed and enable post-burning features such as finalizing disc and data verification.

As a conclusion, BurnAware remains a top pick when it comes to burning solutions and no matter how hard you’d try, you can’t find one that’s easier to use.

Developed to be user friendly and to be aimed at both rookies and professional users, DVD Slim Free doesn't require advanced computer knowledge, with most of the options grouped right in the main window.

DVDFab Passkey Lite 8.0.6.9. The Passkey Lite application was developed to be a free version of Passkey. This is a simple combination of Passkey for DVD and Passkey for Blu-ray. It is not any more a versatile and powerful decryption tool with some DVD/Blu-ray protections out of its domain. However, you can still freely watch any DVD, and use other software to access unprotected DVD/Blu-ray content.

Passkey Lite is a free and a simple two-in-one version of Passkey for DVD and Passkey for Blu-ray, and supports part of the functions they have.

It can still decrypt protected DVD and Blu-ray, but not for all of them. For example, it can't remove AACS V12+, BD+, BDAV, and AVCREC for Blu-ray, so you are not allowed to watch movies with those protections. It doesn't support CPRM for DVD, and PathPlayer is not enabled, so ARccOS, RipGuard, FluxDVD, and CORE X2 can't be removed. As a result, you can't copy those still protected DVDs , but you are able to freely watch them.

What adds punch to Passkey Lite is it can work with all the software that Passkey for DVD and Passkey for Blu-ray works with. You are enabled to use these apps to play/copy/rip the unprotected DVD/Blu-ray discs.

NOTE:
- After installation the user can choose the version to use, for DVD, Blu-Ray or Free, from the startup screen.

Remove part of DVD/Blu-ray protections:
· The DVD protections which can be removed by Passkey Lite are CSS, CPPM, RC, RCE, APS, and UOPs. CPRM, ARccOS, RipGuard, FluxDVD, CORE X2, etc. are not included. For Blu-ray, it can mange AACS V10, RC, BD-Live, and UOPs.

Freely watch any DVD with no region limit:
· It's true that Passkey Lite can't get rid of all DVD protections, if you want to copy/burn/clone DVD, you need to use Passkey for DVD. However, you can freely watch any DVD with no region limit on your region specific player.

Work with other software to access DVD/Blu-ray content:

· Passkey Lite can work with any software that Passkey for DVD and Passkey for Blu-ray works with, to help you access unprotected DVD/Blu-ray content for playback or editing.
