CrystalDiskMark 3.0.2c

Assessing the performance of various hardware components is a job for specialized software utilities that can thoroughly test several parameters before reaching a qualified conclusion. For hard disk drives, one of the possible choices is CrystalDiskMark.

This application was developed to help you get to know your HDD, so it has the power to measure sequential and random read/write speeds while displaying all details to the user with the help of a simple interface. The whole look is designed to make the app very user friendly, so all the information you'll get after conducting the tests will be displayed in the main window.

Speaking about the test, CrystalDiskMark needs just a couple of minutes to perform all the benchmarks. In order to get the most accurate results it's recommended to close all the other apps before hitting the start button.

This tool doesn't put your processor and RAM under a tremendous stress, but it's better to have no documents open while CrystalDiskMark performs a test, be it a sequential read or write or random 4KB/512KB reads or writes.

Partition Wizard Home Edition 7.6 is a partition manager that can be used by individuals with any experience level.

The user interface of the program is clean and intuitive. You have the possibility of running a wizard to copy a partition or a disk, as well as recover a partition or free data.

In the volume list, you can view the capacity, used and unused space, file system, type, as well as the status for each partition on your disk.

So, once you select a disk from the volume list, you can perform operations - format, delete, move, resize or copy it, as well as set its label, check its file system or explore it.

Auslogics Disk Defrag 3.5.0.5. The standard Windows Defragmentation tool is already a very handy utility but in case you're looking for greater speed and more advanced features, there are quite a few alternatives worth checking out and among them there's Auslogics Disk Defrag.

Although it is supposed to conduct such an important task, installing the software solution is a very simple thing. The only thing you need to be extra careful with is the bundled third-party software that can change the settings of your Internet browser.

The interface of Auslogics Disk Defrag is simple and pleasant, which means there should be no problems using it. You can first analyze a given hard disk to find out how fragmented it really is and only then start the process, thus saving a lot of time.

Besides the common defragmentation operation, Auslogics Disk Defrag comes with a bonus. It is able to optimize the system for greater speed, a feature that, according to the developer, must be used once a week.

We've tested the application on several computers and although there was no major improvement in speed on our PCs, the defragmentation is done pretty fast, in fact the whole procedure takes less time than the one carried out using the Windows built-in utility.

All in all, Auslogics Disk Defrag can easily replace the default tool your OS comes with and if you really need an alternative to that utility, this one might very well be the right one

CrystalDiskInfo 5.0.1

CrystalDiskInfo 5.0.1. is a software that lets you view information on your hard drive and some external drives.

You should pay attention when installing this product. Since it is ad-supported, the program offers to download and install third-party software that it doesn't need to fully function.

Once you initiate the application, CrystalDiskInfo automatically displays a list of details on your hard drive.

The user interface of the program is standard, but novice users would probably have a hard time understanding the information displayed here.

You can view the drive model name and disk size, firmware, serial number, interface type, transfer mode, drive letter, buffer size, NV cache size, rotation rate, power on count and on hours, and more.

Furthermore, you can view the health status and temperature of the drive, as well as S.M.A.R.T. information (e.g. "Read Error Rate", "Spin-Up Time", "Start/Stop Count", "Seek Error Rate", "End-to-End Error"), such as current, worst, threshold and raw values.

In addition, you can access "Disk Management" to create a simple partition (basic, spanned or stripped), configure disk conversion options, as well as extend and shrink partitions. But you can also open the Windows Device Manager, set CrystalDiskInfo to automatically run at startup, enable advanced disk search, select your preferred language, change the font, and more.

The application uses a low amount of system resources. It comes with a help file that could have better explained the features but didn't cause us any problems during our tests. We mainly recommend CrystalDiskInfo to power users.
